Ian Mills qualified as a dentist in 1987 and has worked in various roles within primary and secondary care, education, research and NHS commissioning. In addition to his role as an Associate Professor in Primary Care Dentistry at Peninsula Dental School, Ian is a partner in an 8-surgery mixed practice in North Devon.
Ian was previously Dean of the Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK) where he was involved at a national level in developing guidelines and standards for the dental profession, including recovery from the COVID pandemic. In addition to his clinical practice, Ian is actively involved in primary care-based research with a particular interest in person-centered care, environmental sustainability, mental health and well-being and workforce recruitment and retention in rural areas.
