Autumn is here and soon it will be the Study Day – Have you booked yet?
The best laid plans sometimes have to give way to other priorities and although the goal was to produce a newsletter every two months this one has slipped into September!
Better late than never , so please find your bi-monthly dose of what the CSC committee have been up to.
Feel free to forward this along to colleagues who may not have heard about us yet!
What the CSC Committee have been doing
You may have noticed there has been a high level of social media postings, informing the world about our up and coming Autumn Study Day 2023. Organising and publicising this event has been the main focus for the CSC committee over the past few months. If you get a chance we would appreciate you sharing any postings you see with your network so we can have a full house on the day.
The topics in the programme are a response to what our membership and past delegates have suggested in their feedback, and we are really pleased to have secured all our amazing speakers. Take a look at their bio’s at the end of this page link .
It is unusual for the CSC to have an international speaker at the Autumn Study Day but some of the research that has taken place abroad, which epitomises ‘Thinking outside of the box’ can be found there, and we are super grateful that Professor Elisabetta Caselli has agreed to join us from Italy to share her probiotic research.
If you haven’t purchased your tickets yet you can do so here. Remember you need to either be logged in to your account or create an account to complete the purchase.
If you weren’t able to attend the Annual Scientific Meeting you can now purchase access to either individual recordings or the whole Day 1 / Day 2 recordings by going to our Shop page. For those of you who attended and are members you can get free access to these recordings please contact Becky at [email protected] and she’ll be able to get you set up.
What we are listening to

In light of our UKHSA speaker Karren Staniforth speaking at the Autumn Study Day on microbiological risks associated with laundry decontamination, here’s an interesting interview titled ‘Let’s talk keeping healthcare Linens clean’ with Dr Janet Glowicz, Senior Infection Preventionist at Centre for Disease Control (CDC), in support of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) and the American Journal of Infection Control Podcast Science into Practice.
What we are reading

We are very fortunate to have links with some key editors of journals who kindly support our efforts by attending our events and writing open access articles for publication to the wider sector. In the August edition of Clinical Services Journal (CSJ) you can read / remind yourselves in this article titled ‘Exchanging knowledge on infection prevention’ of what went on at the Annual Scientific Meeting held in April this year.
If you’re involved in the built environment then you’ll be aware of the Healthcare Estates conference the week before our Study Day. Here is preview of their programme
