Reverse Osmosis (If required): ◊ Is it thermal or chemical self-disinfect? ◊ Examine the maintenance records for membrane changes. ◊ When membranes were changed, were the seals changed or disinfected? ◊ Were the membrane housings cleaned out before the new membranes were fitted? ◊ Check the materials as used for the filter housings and systems. ◊ What is the pH of the rinse water? Low pH may indicate carbonic acid carry over and membrane problems. Water Sampling ◊ Ensure water sampling techniques are correct by random audit and checking of procedures against HTM/WHTM guidance 01-06 and HTM 04-01. ◊ Ensure the correct collection bottles are being used and they are clean. ◊ Instigate more detailed trending Including: * who takes the sample, * time of day when samples are taken, * machine stage when samples are taken, * pick up time for transport * delivery time to laboratory * time between delivery and analysis of sample * the laboratory used for testing * review of laboratory standard operating procedures
